He's not surprised by her answer, just as he hadn't been surprised by Marina's confession of her previous life. Nadia just doesn't have that look about her; he can tell she's been through some stuff, had to have been in order to literally get to where she is today, but she also has a way about her that suggests she hasn't been touched by that kind of life.
"Well, it ain't for everyone, that's for sure." There's no judgment there. There's a small part of Vic that's jealous, actually, and he can't help but wonder what it's like to be that way. But he was always destined for this. How could he not have been with the family he had?
(Rome had gotten out, yes, that was true -- but he'd ended up back in. Destiny or something.)
"We're good friends," he says then in response to her question, a fond smile appearing on his face. He's not sure how much Marina has said about him, so he keeps the details light. "Roommates, I guess you could say." If you could call a tent a room. "I didn't know she knew your brother."
