Nadia & Bunny, about an hour in
At Nadia's words, Bunny reaches to grip her hand, feeling deep in her heart how momentous this is for the other woman. For all that she's always spun her tale as one of hope, Bunny had had dark nights on the road, more than she liked to remember. Even the sunniest of heart could sometimes fall into shadow. Yet she knows how lucky she was, blessed to have that call inside her that finally lead to Nate. She can only hope that Nadia and her brother have a thread that connects them as well, because if anyone deserves a reunion, it's Nadia.
"I remember," she says, with a nod. Nadia's interview happened before she'd arrived in Austin, but Bunny has always made a point to watch every piece of Nate's films. His newest project is no exception. "I'm so glad for you. One day, once you've had a chance to make up for lost time a little more, I'd like to meet him." Not today, though. This is a day for celebrations, for as many friends as possible, and there isn't really the place to sit down and get a sense of someone new.
For a similar reason, Bunny doesn't ask whether this old friend had any news of Nadia's brother. There's no reason to tread on topics that might dim anyone's happiness. Better to stick to lighter topics. "I know Nate hasn't quite managed to arrange for traditional feijoada." Bunny stumbles a little over the unfamiliar word. "What is it usually like?"
