If there is anything in this world that Rodeo understands best, it's love for a sibling. He doesn't know who Willa's brother is, but he can understand why he might have lied to her if he only knows the story from the Capitol's perspective. He'd see Bishop and his crowd as dangerous, maybe even as terrorists. What loving brother would want his sister getting mixed up in that?
"Course I know what you mean," Rodeo says, finishing the plucking and stepping back from the pot so Willa can take it. He wipes his hands on his jeans, then busies himself with picking the stray feathers off as he speaks. "I got a sister. Little sister. Before she was born, I had nothing, nobody. Daddy was a rounder and mama was a viper. But when that viper brought home my little baby sister, feels like the first time my heart started beating. She ain't just the sun in my sky, she's the whole goddamn firmament." Rodeo drops his hands and lifts his eyes, meeting Willa's gaze. "I would do anything to be with her. To be where she is. Look, it ain't that I don't like havin' ya here, 'cause I sure do, but if I was able to be with my sister, I would be. Don't take your brother for granted. I know you're pissed at him for lyin' to ya, but tomorrow ain't promised to nobody these days. Don't hold that grudge too long."
