“I try not to use chemicals to worsen injuries, generally,” Babs said, trying not to make Olivia feel dumb by smiling or laughing a little. But it was hard- it seemed like such an innocent reaction. Maybe that was what made her keep inviting Olivia in, closer. She was a sweet girl with ideas and sleepy brown eyes. Babs had never really had female friends before, only Day, and now she supposed that Savannah was on that list too.
She took her own sip of water, the coolness washing into her mouth. Every time she drank some clean water, she felt another inch away from the RV that Brian’s body rotted in. She shivered, put the glass down, and wondered again if it would have been better to stay and rot next to him. Her wedding band felt tighter. “I’d be happy to teach you. Why don’t you come by after my clinic hours and we’ll figure out what you know and what you need to know?” Babs said.
