As he stepped away, Olivia bent carefully, slowly, to pick up the bag and sling it over her shoulder. She already knew she'd go through it later, once she was safely inside the library. (And she'd need to come up with an explanation for why she was coming back with this bag, too, since the no scouting rule still held.)
She still felt this weird sense of possessiveness inside her, one that didn't do much to help her push away the tension that was there between the two of them, but there was something about this guy that she couldn't help but pity. She didn't trust him much at all, nor did she ever give up the idea that he could be dangerous to her and Maizie, but she still found herself trying a smile, hoping to put him at ease. "I'm sure she will. Like it, I mean."
There wasn't much else to say to him, she thought, so she stepped backwards too. "I guess let me know if you ever have anything else for her. Or let her know. And I'll probably be the one to come get it."
