When she moved her hand up, he tensed and took another half step back, like he expected her to pull a gun or something. He kept her in view, and barely blinked, just in case. His paranoia was definitely showing, and it was kicked up high.
"Which one? Whether or not I'm a raider, or if she knows?" he asked. "She's not stupid," he added, feeling like Maizie deserved credit for being able to understand the world around her, even if she was in an ivory tower of sorts. He also knew that he was being defensive, and that he was likely taking things worse than he would even six months ago.
But the stress of...well, everything, had him jumpy and touchy and good times were not had by all.
"I'm just someone trying to survive. I don't know what that makes me anymore. I don't mean her any harm. She wants to play her guitar. I got her some things so she could learn, and strings in case she breaks some." Which so could not be the only things in the bag, since it was packed to near bursting with stuff, plus the bracelet. But it was generally music related, plus an ipod he'd found that she could charge up and listen to whatever happened to be on it.
But this girl didn't need to know everything, did she? No.
