Savannah noticed the stuffness to Babs' hug, but she didn't mind. Not everyone was a hugger but that wasn't about to stop her from doing it. Well, so long as nobody protested.
It hadn't even occurred to Savannah that she should be upset with the woman in front of her. Life at the end of times was difficult without loved ones and Savannah couldn't fault Babs for going to look for her husband -- even if her departure was inspired by Gray's disappearance.
"The past is the past. Can't dwell on it or it'll eat us whole. I'd prefer to look forward if it's all the same to you," Savannah said, trying to give Babs a hopeful smile, but her mouth only twitched slightly in a sad attempt. Smiles were difficult these days. "But, honey... I'm sorry about what you found. I know it ain't easy."
Savannah couldn't fathom the strength inside Babs for making it back alive after having to put down her own kin. If she'd had to do the same to Gray and Maizie, she might've put a bullet through her own brain just so she didn't have to be alone. It was this line of thought and made Savannah reach out, touching Babs' forearm as she said, "I know it ain't the same but you're part of this family now, okay?"
