"Complicated," she repeated. Right. No details, just 'complicated'. Very abruptly, she felt like a total moron. Like she'd opened up, and he wouldn't do the same, and hey – that was his right. He was allowed to have his privacy, and whatever was happening wasn't any of her fucking business.
That just didn't help the feeling like she'd showed her cards and things were one sided. That she'd overestimated things on her end because she'd been just that desperate for someone to talk to that didn't have such heavy implications of trying to talk to someone from Fox Grove.
She put on a happy face, because she could. Because she was used to smiling when she had to, which was a hell of a lot sometimes. She shook her head with that expression still in place. "No, you're really not. You've got something pretty important going on, judging from the rate of texts, so go home, deal with that. I hope it's not anything bad," she told him, genuine in that sentiment. "We got here just fine, I doubt a hoard has moved in in the little bit of time we were here. I'll be fine, promise. And if I see a walker, I'll do what I did when I was on my way to the Dog Park. I'll run my little ass off." She put in the reminder that she'd made a trek by herself before, and it was to one of the more dangerous places to ever venture around here. The only thing that would have been worse was probably the tunnels.
"It was nice to meet you in person," she told him. "I'll talk to you sometime soon."
Great... This was really turning into a disaster. They'd been having such a nice time and then reminders of the real world has ruined it all. Sending one last text to Demi, he shoved the phone into his pocket and turned his focus back on Sepphy.
"And you're sure I can't change your mind?" He asked, his lips pressing together in a resigned frown.
