Sepphy blinked at that, looking just a touch hurt. "What's blowing up?" she asked. "Is she your mom or something?" She was slower to get moving than he was, following along in his wake. "...sure, thanks for taking me," she said.
"I can make it home on my own," she added, as she heard another text come in for him. Clearly something was going sideways. He was hopping up like his ass was on fire to go running back, so she figured it was best for him to go.
"No it's just--it's complicated." He could have explained the situation. They both knew Sepphy had opened up to him about her life and her leadership position and the kind of strain that put on her. It would only be fair for him to do the same, but he had hesitations about this subject. Demi was scared they were being watched. She'd told him someone told her that they were being watched. Isaac wasn't sure just how much he believed it, and even so he didn't feel like he had anything to hide, but there was a small part that was worried something bad really could happen.
Looking over at Sepphy he picked up on the expression on her face, feeling pretty lousy about the fact that he'd put it there. "I'm going follow you back anyway, so you may as well let me walk with you. Please?"
