He is right in his assumptions, and Adelaide's voice comes across to him with a "Hey Jims," sounding serious but light enough, too. This doesn't have to be heavy, and Adelaide is hoping hard that it won't be. Often, it is a fairly legitimate tactic to pretend a thing she wants already is, until it happens, and so she is trying that out here. Thomas and Jims are going to talk, and be just fine. Charlie grabs for the bangle at Adelaide's wrist as she speaks, and she switches which hand holds the phone with the one holding him, to let him paw it.
"I was going to put you on speaker, since I'm the topic here, anyhow," she says, feeling like that's legitimate. Charlie finally gets a grip on her bracelet, and gives a satisfied "ah!", and makes Adelaide laugh. "And Charlie's here, too, I thought he might like to hear your voice," she adds. She knows Charlie's presence will only add support to the successful completion of Rodeo's mission - she has really given him everything that she can.
And so she takes the phone away from her ear, rests it half and half on Rob's knee and her own, and taps the screen to put him on speaker. She lifts her eyes to Rob's. "He's all yours, darling," she says. This feels giant, but she won't let nerves show.
