Thank you for hand-waving all the doctor-y things away for me <3 <3
Demi had impressed Lita with the effort she'd put toward the physical therapy regimen that she'd cobbled together. All the techniques were sound, even though Lita herself was unpracticed at this sort of thing, and Demi mastered each exercise Lita inflicted on her. She was careful not to pile too much movement on her friend all at once but for an initial effort, Lita was very pleased with Demi and how it had gone.
"Pain is good," Lita assured Demi with a nod. "It means you're moving all those stiff parts around and making them work when they don't really want to. Why, you think I just like making people hurt for fun? What kind of masochist do you think I am? The kind that at least calls the next day, I hope," Lita amended with a grin as she sat on the arm of the couch.
"Toss back a couple of ibuprofen and you should be right as rain. If not, I can prescribe something if there is any lingering discomfort. I can't have Isaac think I'd let you suffer in silence after coming by to torture you."
Lita wondered how they were going to work this whole standing PT date into their schedules. With a serial killer stalking pretty, dark haired women where she lived and the Capitol being a place Lita didn't want to subject herself to unless she absolutely had to, they might run into a few roadblocks in their working relationship/ burgeoning friendship. Even so, Lita was willing to make a few sacrifices if it meant she could help Demi...and if they ended up being closer friends along the way Lita certainly wasn't opposed. They'd have to be smart about it but as two reasonably intelligent people, Lita was confident they could suss it out.
"Now, as a responsible doctor I'm supposed to tell you to drink lots of water and stay hydrated before and after doing this on your own," Lita advised. "I know that runs contrary to my initial strategy of getting you tipsy beforehand but I'm a big fan of the whole 'do as I say, not as I do' philosophy. Also, it wouldn't be remiss to have someone around to help when I can't be here. Isaac preferably, as he is obviously of the responsible sort; plus he's got those big old muscular hands of his for helping out. However, I won't consider it cheating on me if you invite one of the real housewives of Travis county over."
Lita looked at her phone for the time. It was getting close to curfew for her and as much as she liked Demi, it would be a nightmare for her to get stuck in the Capitol overnight. Lita didn't mind walking on the wild side for an evening but when it came down to it, she much preferred her old digs with a confirmed serial killer on the loose than the Capitol with a whole slew of guards (all of which could potentially be the type to gun down an innocent shelter leader) running around unchecked.
Lita stood and reluctantly gathered her things.
"You don't know how much I needed to get out of the hospital," Lita said gratefully, if a bit awkwardly. She was gifted at a lot of things but expressing sentiment certainly wasn't one of them.
"Thank you; for dinner and for the chat. I'm glad I could stand in for your usual company, at least for the evening."
