Demi spoke with the knowledge and experience far beyond her years; Lita supposed that was a result of having to survive a lot of hard-living at a tender age. In comparison, Lita's life had been a cake walk. Which, if she was being honest with herself, it had been.
"So his keeping his distance is to ensure that you feel comfortable," Lita said, nodding. "I could see how him being a part of your history at la Quinta and him being a huge part of your life now could be triggering. He's a good man to make sure you feel completely safe here."
Lita's opinion of Issac was rising by the minute, even if she still found the whole situation out of the ordinary. Even if Issac's intentions were true, there was still a part of Lita that felt his actions were motivated by feelings Demi stirred in him. He probably felt guilty for Demi having to suffer through what she'd been through at La Quinta, guilty he wasn't doing more for her now to make up for it, guilty that he's sharing such close quarters with someone so soon after his wife, guilty that he notices she's attractive...the laundry list of internal baggage must be weighing him down something awful. Lita would try not to mention her suspicions of Issac or Demi and any emerging sentiments that might be taking place behind the scenes. It wasn't her place to make things more awkward then they probably already were. If and when Demi wanted to confide these things in her, Lita would be ready then.
Lita is glad when Demi's tone becomes more playful, whipping out her phone slyly and being coy and the covert pics she'd snapped. Lita grinned wickedly, holding out her hands expectantly.
"Gimme, gimme," she says greedily, scooping up Demi's phone before the younger woman could snatch it back. Lita's eyes widened comically looking at Issac's picture. Demi had not been kidding about him being hot.
"Wow," Lita says, flipping back and forth between Issac's face and Issac's butt. She couldn't decide which was her fave, they were both equally mesmerizing. "You're living with this? He's so hot! You're telling me you get to look at this, like, all day long? Maybe this cohabitation thing isn't for the birds after all."
Lita made an exaggerated bow to her new friend.
"You clearly are an excellent spy. James Bond has nothing on you. I am forever in your debt. Next time, play up the serious doctor angle and tone down the girly gigglefest thing, even if it isn't true. I want to catch him in the flesh one day."
The steak looked wonderful and smelled even better. Lita couldn't even begin to remember the last time she had a more decedent meal.
"You really outdid yourself, Demi. You're spoiling me for all other food and friends, you know that, right?"
