Demi pulled Lita inside and it was all Lita could do not gape at her well-appointed surroundings. It was as if she was in a museum exhibit detailing what life was life has been like before the apocalypse had happened. Issac's apartment was extravagant, modern and classy. It obviously paid being the deputy commissioner.
"See, that just goes to show you how narrow-minded those biddies are," Lita said, sweeping inside and letting Demi shut the door behind her. "I could just as easily be your side piece as I could be Issac's. They don't know me."
Lita handed over the wine, which was more of "everything but the kitchen sink" hodgepodge of fermented this and that from the UMCB kitchens. Lita had field tested the surprisingly potent concoction numerous times with mixed results. On the plus side, she could safely say it had never made her go blind, so it was suitable enough to gift to someone else.
"So, not only does this taste kind of gross," Lita said, placing it on a table. "It's also gives you a monster hangover. But it'll give you a good buzz, which is what I'm looking for at the end of the day. Sorry, it's slim pickings in my neck of the woods."
The apartment smelled amazing. The hospital galley did fine with the rations they were given by the Capitol. Honestly, no one could ever complain of hunger while they lived at the UMCB. But whatever Demi had planned was something wholly other than cobbled together meat substitute, canned peas and instant rice.
"So, this is your place, huh?" Lita asked, spinning slowly in place to take it all in. "Nice, but very masculine. Doesn't have a whole lot of you in it yet, but that doesn't happen overnight when you move in with someone, or so I've been told. I've never lived with a guy myself."
