Taking one of the jars of moonshine from Bode with a smile and a quiet word of thanks, Bunny didn't delay in taking her first sip the way Nate did. It was a special pleasure to have this again, and she didn't aim to put off the enjoyment of it. And the moonshine was just as she remembered, the staple of both countless backwoods parties and quiet evenings spent with only the closest friends. It might even be a little better, just because those precious memories sweetened it for her.
Her smile spreading into a grin, Bunny looked over at Bode and said, "It's wonderful." Then, with another sip that lit a glowing ember of warmth behind her breastbone, she turned to Nadia instead.
"I'm happy to stay as long as you need." It was all too easy to put herself in the other woman's boots, the constant ache of searching for someone only a short distance behind her. If the person Nadia was meeting had information for her, the last thing she needed was a stopwatch counting down the time she could spend in the Dog Park.
