Calling this visit a much needed distraction wouldn’t be right, or fair to the three people standing in front of him now. This was exactly what Bishop needed, though. Friendly faces, a break from the murmurings of unrest still swirling around camp after Chapel days ago and the ever present shadow of Willa hanging over him. To say the Hellhounds Chaplain was a little twisted up would be putting it lightly. He was not a man prone to second guessing himself, but in every step since his ex had reappeared, he’d done nothing but just that. So, distraction, that’s what he needed and he had honest to god been looking forward to this visit since the moment it was announced.
Which is why he’d been sitting just inside the gate waiting for their arrival - no, he wasn’t avoiding Willa, except, maybe he was. Still, Bishop didn’t waste any time in striding towards Nate’s truck once it had pulled to a stop, three bodies extracting themselves from the vehicle. Two he recognized, while the third was undoubtedly the woman Nate had spoke of.
Bishop murmured a ‘Hey, brother,’ to Nate as the two men hugged, though his attention was quickly shifting to the two women standing with him. Bunny was a hell of a sight, a touch of home he hadn’t even been aware he’d been missing until just now. It didn’t take long for him to wrap her in a tight hug, lifting her off of her feet for only a moment as she pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Darlin’, you don’t know just how damn happy I am to see you here,” he exclaimed as he sets her back down on her feet. “And neither have you, you’re still the bright and sunny Hazel that always made Harlan a little easier to live in.” Bishop gives her one last squeeze before releasing her.
“The pleasure is mine, darlin’,” Bishop drawls, a smile turning up his mouth as his attention is drawn to Nadia. “And you’re more than welcome, heard you’ve got a possible connection to this place, so you’ve got just as much right to be here as anyone else.” That didn’t mean he wasn’t going to be keeping a wary eye on Nadia, but it did mean she had a little bit of a claim to being within these walls.
“So tell me, what sort of tall tales has Nate here told you about this place?” The question is directed towards both Bunny and Nadia, though Bishop casts a glance at his best friend, jerking a thumb towards him as he adds.“You know this one here’s got one hell of a colorful imagination.”
