He lifted a hand, running his fingers through his hair awkwardly, and let out a slow breath. He hadn't meant to make her feel weird but he was just trying to think of all the angles here. Couples touched each other. That was just a fact. There was hand holding and hugging and kissing and all those subtle touches in between. He and Demi didn't have that. So did they have an actual chance of convincing everyone that this thing between them was real?
At least he brought it up before they were already in there or he accidentally did something that would totally blow their cover.
"The shots are yours to call," Isaac reassured her. "Just pretend you have a headache or something if it's too much and we'll go, okay?" They couldn't push too much too fast and hope to be successful at this game. Plus, even if he and Demi were still new to this truce thing, that didn't mean he didn't care about her. Some part of him had to if he was willing to risk his job and pull her out of La Quinta. Of course he insisted the biggest part of it all had been morals and justice and doing the right thing, but after weeks of questioning her, he'd grown to admire her grit. So what if she used her sassy mouth to yell at him most fo the time? She was still nice to have around most of the time.
Her arm looked through his again and then Isaac reached forward, knocking on the door. Rose Paulsen answered the door, ever the gracious host, and squealed in delight.
"Oh you two actually decided to join us. That's just lovely," she gushed, doing a very blatent up-and-down of the pair, eyes honing in on their looped arms. "Well, come in," she added with a grin after the brief pause, stepping back and clearing the way for them to enter.
