“Oh, you mean the antenna.” He sent a grin her way as he pushed down on the plug. A bit of audio could be heard. “I’m setting up solar panels soon, so hooking a death ray up there would pretty much be along the way. Only thing I’m worried about is people picketing me for wasting electricity on doomsday devices.” Unplugging the headset from the player, Erik retrieved a pair of scissors, cutting off the plug. “So, I’ve figured out what is wrong with your headphones,” he said as he began to strip the wires, “Broken plug. This shouldn’t take too long.”
He gestured across the garage to where the two vending machines were located. “Help yourself to something,” he waved at the snacks she’d brought, “A thanks for the additional packs. There should be quarters in the coin dispenser, so go wild with it.” One machine was primarily for food and the other was for drinks. However, both of them also have some random objects tossed into the mix. Mostly for amusement’s sake. “I’m sorry about your friend,” he added with an apologetic smile, “But I’m sure whoever’s in charge is only looking out to protect you, especially if this guy is targeting female supply scouts. It’s already dangerous enough coming out here alone in general.” Setting the headphones down, he stood up from his seat to fetch a plastic case he had placed at the end of the table.
“So,” he glanced over at her with mild amusement as he pulled out a jack plug from the container, “did you have to sneak out to come here today?” Sitting back down on the stool, Erik unscrewed the plug as he slipped the cover and spring over the end of the cable. “Since they won’t let anyone go out.”
