His eyes obviously lit up at the sight of the Corn Nuts. He couldn’t have enough of those. Shoving the packet she handed him into his back pocket, Erik stared down at the headphones. “You can’t hear through them, right? Is it one or both ears?” He watched her pull out another packet and a couple of fruit snacks. “Are those for me too?” He didn’t want to assume, but he hoped they were. At least the extra Corn Nuts. Like he’d said, he literally could not get enough of those.
Sitting down on a stool, he set the headphones down as he reached over for a toolbox. The worktable had been shoved against the wall nearest the door into the main infrastructure. There were two connecting ones in the back of the room and one all the way across on the other side of the room as well. The garage was a relatively huge space with two large electronic steel doors. There was an old Chevy he had recently given a fresh coat of paint on the far end. Behind it on the far left corner sat two vending machines – one mostly for snacks and the other for drinks.
Pulling out his music player from his pocket, Erik plugged Olivia’s headphones in as he selected a random song from his playlist. “That’s actually a great idea,” he pointed out, listening into the ears for any sound. “Zombie killing death rays. I should make that my next project. That guy will love the idea too.” Actually, his helper tended to love any idea he tossed out at him. He was very enthusiastic. Maybe a bit too enthusiastic sometime. “How’s life at LBJ going for you? Security must be tight with the Supply Scout Annihilator still on the loose.”
