Erik jabbed a finger at his assistant as he walked over to his cellphone. He didn’t think it was something needed to be said, but that fumble had made him tense. Now he was keeping a wary eye on the guy while he opened up the screen to check what message he got. It was then that the buzzer he’d installed a while back sounded. Oh, right. He had a visitor today, didn’t he?
Time was a funny (and irrelevant) thing when he got caught up in an experiment. He’d been caught up in a lot of experiments since he arrived here in Austin. Honestly, he didn’t even know what his sleep schedule looked like on most days. Business was good. He tried to go down there often, or at least send his helper. When people came, he went down to help them. When they left, he went straight back up to continue his work. There was no time to rest. Not for long.
It probably wasn’t very healthy, but at least his assistant was good enough to get him to sleep the relevant amount of hours. Something about “looking like crap won’t bring in future customers”. That was a stupid reason, but it worked.
“Don’t drop that,” he repeated again as he exited the room to head downstairs. The kid can continue the test while he greeted his customer. Exiting the main infrastructure, he shut the door behind him as he pushed the button to open up the closest garage door. “Hey!” He said with a little too much enthusiasm, taking a couple of steps forward, “You’re here. Did you bring your headphones?”
