sabbath bloody sabbath Who: Jadyn Hunter and Rodeo Hawkins Where: LBJ Library What: Rodeo gives Day the details of Gray Wolfe's death. When: Sunday, August 9 2018
the race is run, the book is read the end begins to show. the truth is out, the lies are old but you don't want to know.
Rodeo still has blood on his clothes.
He hasn't cleaned up. Maybe he should have-- he's almost completely sure that the splash of blood on his chest is Wolfe's, and he's sure it would be unpleasant even if it weren't. But it's too late now, with Rodeo pulling the van containing Wolfe's body up to the library and the truck containing the men Day sent coming up behind. Rodeo shifts the van into park and glances into the back, where Wolfe's remains lie under a stained blanket. He grimaces at the sight of it, then reaches for the handle and elbows the door open.
He's in miserable shape, really. It's not just the ringing in his right ear or the faint limp in his step, but the unbearable weight of his heavy heart. Rodeo's usual swagger is markedly understated as he makes his way around to the back of the truck and waits for Jadyn. Rodeo is dreading this and looking forward to it in equal measure. As harsh as Day was being over the Freenet, Rodeo suspects she is the only one telling him the truth and acknowledging his guilt in Gray Wolfe's death. Whether he likes it or not, this man's blood is on his hands. If there's a leak, it's coming from his camp. He appreciates the fact that Day is willing to acknowledge that fact, but he knows it won't be easy for him to look her in the eyes and hear the truth when it's going to hit so hard. Still, it's no more than he deserves, so he stands his ground.
