She's torn about the prospect of ever having to run. On the one hand she would be where she wants to be, with the people she cares for most. No more waiting, no more sneaking, no more longing. On the other hand, she would be hurtling them all prematurely into a struggle they're not yet ready for. She has no doubt that TR would come for Charlie, and come blazing. Yes, Rodeo wants to take on the Capitol, and once that war has broken open it won't matter whether Adelaide is here or there - the fight will be bitter either way if Olinger is at the helm. But there's a lot that needs to happen before Rodeo's people are ready for that, and Adelaide is just trying to hang on, to keep from lighting any sparks that could set the whole thing off too soon. The people she cares for are exactly the people who would be hurt the most.
She shuts her eyes, at the exact moment that the bathroom door comes swinging open, startling a yelp out of her as her eyes fly open again. His name is on her lips, startled right out of her and the alarm on her face is without doubt one of the most genuine expressions TR has seen from his ever-composed wife. "God damn, Thomas, you scared the heck out of me," she says, and even her accent is more obvious in her surprise. She has been much more exposed, technically, with Thomas than she is right now, but somehow it doesn't feel like it. The bright bathroom lights bouncing off the mirror, the suddenness of his arrival, the wary thoughts she'd only just been thinking - all of it has her shaken. She presses her palm against her chest, and with an effort she eases back against the tub's headrest, and tries not to look like a guilty child. Gathers innocent curiosity around her like a cloak, though it's a bit soggy-looking right now. She lets out a breath, and looks back to her husband. "What on Earth do we need to talk about that's taken you away from work in the middle of the day?" she asks. Not good, not good, not good.
