Although JP's question had the distinct ring of being rhetorical, Bunny found herself actually considering the answer. If there were more places out there like Austin, reconnecting the dots from city to city would probably be less difficult, though by no means easy. If Austin was, as she suspected, one of the only cities to have held together, that made it much, much more difficult.
However, even in the face of such odds, Bunny couldn't help but feel that somehow humanity would find a way. It just might take a while.
"I'd like to believe we will, someday. It's a nicer thought than the alternative," she answered. Leaning forward slightly as JP pulled the rest of the donuts from the oil, Bunny watched with avid interest. "How did the rest of your batch turn out? Is it worth trying to making donuts for the whole hospital?"
With a glance around the otherwise empty kitchen, she added, "You do normally have some more helpers, right?"
