"That's what I'm hoping," Bunny admitted. There was a little honey leftover on her fingers and no immediate sign of a napkin. Well, waste not want not. She licked the honey off.
"I can tell you it's the biggest refuge I've come across so far. And the only one that's so well set up." Electricity alone would have been a rarity, but Austin and the UMCB offered far more. The freenet, in particular, was still a wonder to Bunny. It might as well have been magic for all she understood how such a thing could exist until the midst of the world they found themselves in.
It would be easy for a body to get comfortable in a place like this, rather than out in the wilderness. Under any other circumstances than the ones she found herself, she might've been tempted to stay for good.
Bunny saw the surprise written on JP's face when he heard where she was from. Maybe they didn't get many travelers in Austin after all. "I walked, mostly. It sounds simple to put it flat out like that, but there was a lot more to it. Got lost a lot and made a few stops along the way."
Her tone was matter-of-fact, making it sound for all the world like she'd done nothing more risky than walking the Appalachian Trail in the time before zombies.
