Rodeo is stunned when she lifts her face and he sees that it isn't irritation or disappointment that has her in this position. She looks overwhelmed, and not even in a bad way. Rodeo feels some of his excitement returning, his heart burrowing its way up from the floor. Sarge's words make him grin, and he ducks his head as if he's actually bashful about it. He squeezes Adelaide's hands, pulling on them gently. "You didn't spoil nothin', baby girl," Rodeo promises her. "This place ain't goin' anywhere. And just by walkin' in, you already pretty much saw the whole thing anyhow."
Sweet Melissa watches the exchange, and with Rodeo there kneeling in front of Adelaide, she seems concerned. She leaves Sarge's side to cross to the couch, hopping up onto it. She curls up on the worn plaid surface, dropping her chin down in Adelaide's lap and letting out a weary sigh. Maybe she's just tired of all of their broken hearts.
"Besides, it ain't all that much like home. I still ain't got a hollerin' banshee for the bedroom yet, so it's pretty lackin' in the things we'd find familiar," Rodeo continues, not bothering to tell the dog to leave Addie alone. "But hey, there's still guns everywhere."
