Lita wasn't sure if she had any family left, but even if they were gone, she at least had Josh. Josh had somehow transformed from a kid that she taught how to punch an I.V. bag and cast an arm to the closest thing she'd probably ever have to a sibling. When he had lost his last patient at the UMCB and took off almost overnight, Lita had struggled without him. Gone was that sense of family, that comfort of having at least one other person you could turn to for anything. If she was being honest with herself she still hasn't quite found her equilibrium without his constant presence at the hospital but she made due...she had to. He was happier where he was and, for once, Lita couldn't be selfish and want what was best for her, which was to have him back. No, he deserved a new start in a different place. But there would always be a place for him at home with her, should he ever want it.
Lita saw Josh before he saw her; he had his back to her and was busy signing in. The doc smile despite herself; she had missed him. Lita waved to the LBJ guards and they nodded and grinned back. She was a staple here but even she wasn't immune to security measures. She'd have to show her I.D. and sign in as well, but first she had to say hi.
She sidled up to Josh slipped an arm around Josh's shoulder before he could see her. He was literally the only other person besides Van that Lita felt comfortable touching in a platonic way. She was standoffish to a fault and clinical in her doctor dealings, but with Josh she felt comfortable enough to let her guard down.
"Hey stranger," Lita said, beaming. He looked the same, if a bit broader than she had last seen him. Hanging out with the Hellhounds looked good on him. She ruffled his hair good-naturedly; she was just so pleased to see him. "Sorry I'm a little late. Don't tell me you've already come in, healed our patient, and are leaving without saying goodbye?"
Lita peered around the lobby, wondering who their injured supply scout could be. It was a scary job to have in the current atmosphere; at least Nadia had the benefit of not being at the UMCB.
