The truth was Maizie still had no idea about the extent of her Dad's injuries. Part of her didn't want to know, really. What she'd seen on Wednesday had given her more than enough of a mental picture. So hearing Josh talk about an IV and painkillers, which seemed like fairly standard stuff, didn't spook her too much.
"I'm just glad that you and Marcus were there to help him when he needed it," she said, still keeping her tone even. No way she was going to get all emotional in front of Josh. "Really, really glad. I don't know how we're ever gonna pay you guys back for this."
That thought -- what the Dog King might want in return for his aid -- was pretty sobering, but it wasn't something Maizie was going to worry about today. Not when Liv was getting that funny soft sound of awe in her voice when she talked about Josh helping Dad. There was definitely a lot of 'ex something' going on here.
Maizie looked over at Josh, interested in how he was going to answer Liv's remark about how different her living situation was from his. "Are you in a tent, or did you manage to grab something like one of the campers?" she added.
