Vic takes the the hint with ease, his eyes glancing over towards Bishop as he takes another sip of 'shine. They can keep the conversation flowing easy on something else if that's what Wolfe needs to feel comfortable. And Vic has no intention of giving Wolfe any reason to think that he and Bishop aren't gonna cooperate with him just yet.
He takes a seat next to Wolfe, leaving just enough space for it to be clear that he's looking for a camaraderie tonight. "In a world like this there are no guarantees. But I figure you make the promises you think you can keep and trust others to know that sometimes things don't end up the way they want them to. No other choice in a world like this."
It's something he and Zhenya work on every day that he goes out into Austin. Vic promises he'll come home and she has the understanding to know that there's the possibility he won't. An odd way to live, maybe, but Vic figures two years is plenty of time to adjust.
"But we don't have to sit 'round here talking about your impending doom or anything."
