This time Maizie just nodded to show that she understood what Teagan was trying to tell her. It was a lot to remember: lean back, tuck your chin, heel up, fist loose, inhale, exhale, and so on. How on earth did anyone ever remember it all? It had to be like Steve Rogers in that Avengers movie, just punching the bag over and over until you didn't have to think about all the ways you had to move. Your body just remembered.
Maizie took a deep breath and blew it out again, not to try a punch, but just to stay focused before she even made an attempt. Teagan's adjustments were firm but not rough, and in a minute she had rearranged everything to her apparent satisfaction.
The first time Maizie tried the move slowly, just testing. It was her hope that she could feel what Teagan meant by powering the punch with her torso and hips, but the experience was too new. Teagan would have to tell her if she did it incorrectly.
This time Maizie breathed in with the intention of following through and the instructions flew through her head as she struck the punching bag. It was probably all kinds of wrong, but Maizie had to admit, hitting something felt really, really GOOD.
