A fleeting smile passed over her feature at Maizie’s comment. Jadyn knew she must be worried about her father’s condition, but it was good that she still had the capacity for a little humor in her. She had been concerned how well she would have taken the news of the bite when she’d told her earlier. Honestly, it was something that she should have done sooner, but she didn’t want to tell her until she’d confirmed they could see her dad. Otherwise, it’d just bring her unnecessary distress.
As Rodeo introduced himself, she had been getting her initial and subsequent impressions of him. He had looked like the typical Hellhound when he was approaching from the distance. But, as he neared, she could see there was a much more confident and commanding presence to him than a regular raider. True to the Dog King moniker. She wasn’t fond of it.
He was the same height as Gray, but rougher in appearance. He was all in all what one would expect the leader of a group of raiders to be. She decided to withhold her opinion of him for now, however. It wasn’t what she was here for.
“It’s good to finally meet you,” she said, her expression impassive and her Brooklyn accent crisp, “You can call me Jadyn.” Glancing over at Vannah and Maizie briefly, she returned her gaze to the man, “I don’t mean to sound rushed, but can you take us to Gray?” She’d rather not waste time. Small talk and niceties could happen on the way to wherever they’d decided to quarantine her former comrade. He was top priority. Everything else came a good second.
