It wasn't that Penelope didn't like living in the medical center. If anything, it definitely was better than some of the other places she had been living in. But she did hate that she was only staying for two terrible reasons: she had nowhere else to go, and apparently she had a heart condition. The former wouldn't be so bad without the heart problem. Hell, Penelope would have easily up and ditched by now. Without Lily around anymore, she could've gone anywhere. But, in reality, she knew this was the best place for her to be. All her life she had breathing problems and issues with pain in her chest. But she never thought it was anything serious. Boy was she wrong.
So she had been trying to take it slow since deciding to stay for a longer period of time in the medical center. Still, while her official job was to be the assistant to resources, she tried to get out whenever she could. Even though she had been a bit closed off from some of the other, it was through some of her savaging that she managed to befriend North.
Already poking at the mystery meat on her plat, a small smile formed on Penelope's face as North sat down and complained about the dinner. "Hell, what I wouldn't give for just any kind of fast food," she said. "Like, a burger. A real burger."
Penelope set down her fork and instead went for her water. "I swear sometimes they make this stuff grey and mush-like on purpose. It's the zombie apocalypse, so holy shit, nobody has an excuse to bitch about our horrendous cookin'." She shrugged, "Beggars can't be choosers, huh?"
