“Thanks.” Taking the skateboard from him, North strapped it onto her back again before she reached over to collect the bag. Looked like scouting could be considered a success today.
She regarded him with an amused smile as she hooked the strap of the sack onto her shoulder and recollected her rifle. “I’m staying at the University Medical Center right now,” she told him, giving a light shrug, “but, trust me, I don’t have anyone who’d bother scolding me about talking to a stranger.” Not anymore.
“Anyway,” she gave him a pointed look, “you’re really not that awful of a company, bro. You need to give yourself more credit than that.” Pausing for a moment, she added as an afterthought, “Well, okay, maybe the whole leather jacket thing might be a little bit intimidating, but you’re pretty sweet for a scary dude.” Shifting the bag more, North began to head towards the exit, “So, you seriously have a bike? That’s hella cool. It kinda makes me miss my car though.”
