Who: Savannah and Maizie
Where: the LBJ, Savannah's Office
What: Maizie comes seeking help, conversation happens
When: this afternoon
All morning, Maizie delayed the inevitable. Usually the inevitable was her chores around the shelter, but today is was The Essay. Yes, the dreaded thing had taken on such a life of its own that she'd begun capitalizing it in her thoughts. Maizie felt pretty sure The Essay was just Dad's way of reminding her that he was still the adult and she was the child, as if she could ever really forget. The fact that he was making her write a 10 page paper on FEMINISM in the middle of the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE was proof of that. It was all so pointless.
Pointless and, still, inevitable. Which mean that Maizie needed to get her hands on some books, and Savannah had said she might have some. The best place to find Savannah during the day was in her office. Even with Maizie literally dragging her feet and stopping to chat with one of the other residents, it took her only a short time to get there.
She paused outside, listening for the sound of voices within, before she called out, "Savannah? It's me."
