"Thank you, I appreciate it. That's true, too," Josh considered Teagan's suggestion to start this next project up a little faster than initially planned. She had a point - there were plenty of people in the camp who could help with the greenhouse, even the kids, and the more hands they had on deck, the faster they could make it a solid, definite thing. "Well, I'll mention it, see what happens. Either way, I'll need a little more time to make sure I actually know how to build it, but the more support, the better."
He grinned at Teagan's compliment, and found that it was time to drain the vegetables. The rice felt tender enough so he moved that off the stovetop to season it. With the free space and empty pot, Josh poured the beans in with some water, and set that to heat up while he finished dressing the rest of their meal. "So." Josh announced, and gestured to each plate as he mentioned it. "We have rice with saffron seasoning, breaded chicken nuggets with brown sugar, mixed veggies with the really strong brown and yellow stuff, and the garbanzo beans are on their way. I apologize if I've burned anything," Josh eyed their meal somewhat cautiously, but went ahead and grabbed a plate, serving spoons, and forks.
Earlier on in the apocalypse, everything had been plastic, because no one wanted to waste the water on cleaning off utensils, but since then, with no plasticware factory in sight, they'd had to resort to using actual silverware they'd raided from some of the abandoned houses nearby. So there they were, in the middle of a zombie-ridden desert in a trailer, eating off silver spoons.
