"I'm so touched," Josh wiped an imaginary tear away from his eye. After feeling confident that Teagan would not be offended with not taking part in the actual cooking portion of the evening, he started crushing the saffron. Since rice didn't take too long to make, Josh set the box aside and the crushed saffron into a small bowl next to it. "Okay, so I'm assuming I can just sprinkle the brown-sugar-y one just over the chicken?" Josh thought through the process out loud, not actually looking for a response.
So he tried that, pinching a tiny bit between his fingers to lightly dust the chicken nuggets before popping those into the microwave. Next, Josh found his two pots and filled them with water to set them over the stove. One for the rice, the other for the vegetables. The garbanzo beans would have to wait for now. While he waited for the water to boil, Josh slid into the booth and grabbed his drink. He raised his glass to Teagan and took a sip. "Me too," Josh sighed reverently.
"My tomato plant has grown officially one tomato, and two green lumpy things that vaguely resemble tomatoes," he gestured to the plant in his windowsill. It looked unfortunately pathetic. It was nice while it lasted, at least. "I never actually thought I'd miss salad, but here I am," Josh shrugged, eyes widened in confusion.
