She would like it to be stated for the record that she was not an alcoholic.
But, damn, was JP a genius with those vodka gummy bears. It was why she'd spent the day yesterday fulfilling her earlier promise to him and she could say that it was one hell of a productive day. She'd somehow managed to find everything she was looking for, including some insulin. Now that last bit was definitely a struck of good luck, or maybe a struck of dumb luck (depending on how one looked at it). She may or may not have toppled over onto a shelf from a momentary spazz and found them that way. But she'd found them.
Only thing that really mattered. Yup.
North had just finished texting JP about her find. She'd decided to give herself a good pat on the back and a day off from scouting, so she chose to just stay indoors. Of course, when she wasn't sleeping, she couldn't sit still. She needed shit to do. It had been a good few weeks since she'd settled into the UMCB and she had already made a ton of friends. They were good people and she liked them even though she still hesitated to get too attached.
With her skateboard strapped to her back as usual, she slid down the railing of the stairs in the East Wing of the medical center. She wanted to see if Penelope, Sid, or any of the other scouters were around to chill out with her for a bit. It wasn't until she'd landed on the bottom of the staircase that she'd noticed the body slouched lifelessly against the door of the hospital basement. "Oh my fuck." No. No, no, no, no. Nope. Nope, not happening.
Instinctively taking a few quick steps back in surprise, North tripped over her own feet falling flat on her ass. "Hell no." She knew that girl, that girl on the floor. She knew her. It was Andrea. Jesus Christ, it was Andrea. She was one of the scouters she did her runs with most frequently. Rising back up from the ground, she tried to calm herself down as she glanced from the body on the floor to the surrounding area. Nobody else was around.
"What happened to you?" It was a stupid question. She didn't know why she was vocalizing it, but she didn't know what else to do. No, that wasn't true. She knew what she needed to do. She needed to call for help or call for an authority, or call for anybody for fuck's sake. But she was frozen in her spot just... staring. It was probably only for a minute or two, but it'd felt like hours to her. Andrea was a friend. A very good friend.
She'd been perfectly fine yesterday. How did this happen to her? She was lying on the floor in a pool of blood with a bruised face. Her shirt had been ripped open and she could see stab wounds all over her chest and stomach. There were also a couple of hand prints on the door and wall behind her, but she couldn't tell if it was Andrea's or somebody else's. The thought sent a chill straight down her spine and she finally managed to pry her eyes away. She needed to go find help. That's what she needed to do. She needed to go find help.
Taking another deep breath, North closed her eyes to push down her emotions. She couldn't cry or freak out, or whatever it was that she wanted to do. Not right now. She needed to find an authority figure and she needed to find one now before someone else came and caused a panic. With a final glance at Andrea, she pulled out her cellphone to make the call.
