She hesitates half a second at his question, trying to decide if and how this could come back in a way she might regret - Thomas will have a damn lot of questions if he finds out she's been out here, and the truth wouldn't be at all acceptable for an excuse. But instead of stopping her, that fact just irritates Addie, makes her feel like she wants to know this person. Mostly because she's always been contrary, and also because he just strikes her as someone who is Good underneath all the layers of desperation and distrust. Maybe being out here after so long inside is stirring up things - things that are maybe better left unstirred. Now and then her eyes dart around them, and the old feeling of being constantly on the watch is strangely enlivening.
"Adelaide," she says, with a little nod by way of greeting. She doesn't offer her hand to shake, such an old world gesture. She remembers reading once that it had started out as a way of showing that one wasn't armed - and that just isn't ever going to be true anymore. So instead there is that nod. "Though it would be best if you played that one close to the chest, maybe," she adds, offhand.
