Max and Cherry, before dinner
Max nodded warmly and smiled. They’d certainly had a rough patch or two but instead of driving them apart, it only brought them closer together. Max never dreamed he’d find a girl who would stick with him, no matter the circumstances, and here they were many months later, still going strong.
“Definitely,” Max agreed. “And soon I’ll have my own place and that’ll make things even better. No more sneaking around, trying to find time to be alone. You can come over whenever you want, stay as long as you like, with no worries of who's around and no limits on how, uh, exuberant we can be.” Max flushed as Cherry reached a hand up to lovingly pat his cheek, grateful for the change in topic. It wasn’t just about the sexy stuff (though that obviously was a huge perk). Just being able to be with Cherry, to hang out with her and talk with her and not feeling like they were imposing on someone else’s space and privacy was such an amazing development he still sort of couldn’t believe it was happening.
“I can’t wait to spend even more time with you, it’s going to be so much fun.”
"It is super exciting," Cherry agreed, though the level of excitement in her voice was admittedly less hyped than Max's own enthusiasm. There were things she hadn't mentioned to him yet, not out of spite but purely due to difficulty in timing. Considering the current topic of conversation, it appeared that postponing the conversation to after Vic's birthday party wasn't the best idea, lest Max get too excited about the foreseeable future if things were about to change in other ways, too.
"There's so much good stuff going on all around," she began, "I don't even know where to begin. I was kind of thinking of a few things, too, kind of along those same lines. Do you have a little bit longer to chat before we join the others?"
Max head cocked to the side and he studied Cherry. Intrigued at what she had to say, Max nodded enthusiastically.
“I always have time for you,” Max replied easily, inclining his head toward her so he could hear her better over the din of the restaurant.
