Who: Ria Otieno and Luc Flores
Where: Luc's place
What: A non-Valentine's day hook-up
When: [backdated] February 5th, 2020 - Late evening
Ria had paid little mind to the date on the calendar when she had fired off her earlier text message to Luc, she still paid very little mind to what day it was as his hands now moved over her curves, slightly callused fingers brushed against smooth skin and sent a shiver down her spine. This was in many ways what they were good at, scratching an itch for each other. Helping to relieve stress after a particularly bad day -- and Ria had had a doozy of a day -- but she didn’t want to talk about it, no, she wanted to sink into Luc’s touch and get lost for awhile. And God, he was doing a damn fine job of just that. Their clothes had been discarded who knows where (they would find them later) and the familiar progression from the front door, up the stairs and to his bedroom had happened in a whirlwind. Now Ria’s mouth was on his neck, sucking gently at the skin over his pulse as his hands explored and their bodies moved in rhythm with each other. The world had begun to slip away piece by piece, each stroke and roll of their hips pushed aside the outside world for a while, Ria’s attention drawn inward, her focused narrowed to the bedroom and the man in bed with her. But then, and this happened rarely, she found herself pulling back from him as she asked. “First aid?” A beat passed and Ria added. “Do you think Austin needs to learn it?” She could have cursed her mind in that moment, why was she thinking about work now? This. This was supposed to distract her from work, all aspects of it. Ria shouldn’t have been asking questions. She should have been moaning and gasping, calling out Luc’s name and letting him bring her over the edge. But instead her mind was a traitor and tonight no even his touch could chase away her swirling ideas and thoughts. Luc, still under the spell of Ria’s exquisite touch, didn’t quite grasp Ria’s meaning. “Are we moving into roleplay territory?” Luc replied; his excitement over the prospect evident in his voice, as well as in other places. “Because, I gotta tell you, I am into it.” He swiped his thumb over the smooth skin at her hip as he mulled over the potential sexy situations in his mind. “But if we’re going to play doctor, I want to be the doctor first.” He stopped, bit his lip in thought, and continued. “Nope, strike that. You definitely should be the doctor first. But me after.” At no point did Luc think he was barking up the wrong tree with Ria’s comment. Their interactions, however frequent, definitely tended toward sexual variety as opposed to normal, everyday chatter. It wasn’t to say they didn’t talk about things other than sex, it was just that they were so in sync with one another in that particular way that when they hung out, any talk (besides dirty) was often pushed to the wayside. For a moment Ria didn’t know if she should be frustrated or amused by Luc’s complete obliviousness to what she was asking. After a little thought she would go with amused, after all she had asked him a serious question at a very inopportune moment. “We’re not playing doctor,” Ria replied gently, laughter in her tone. “But we can, I promise,” she made a mental note to add roleplaying to the things Luc liked. “What I meant was should I start a first aid class?” Ria shifted then, easing herself up onto her elbows and giving Luc - God, he was handsome - a serious look, though her hand came out to comb through his disheveled curls. It didn’t escape her thought process that they rarely talked about these types of things. They talked, of course they did, but it was always more personal and sometimes -- a lot of the time -- weighted towards being more sexual in nature. “God, this is like the worst time to be bringing this up,” she breathed out, leaning forward to press a kiss to the corner of Luc’s mouth. “Forget I said anything,” Ria continued as she wiggled her way back into the position she had been in. “What was that about you being okay with roleplaying?” There was a sultry look in her eyes and a very strong attempt to move make to the more casual nature of their arrangement. Especially when it was clear that most of the blood in Luc’s body was not being circulated towards his brain. “Just hold on there a moment, gorgeous,” Luc answered, placing his hands at Ria’s slim waist to stay her movements. “Even though I am very up for roleplay,” he said, looking down at himself as evidence of this fact before met Ria’s eyes again. “Let’s put a pin in that for a minute. So you’re thinking about teaching first aid?” It was hard for Ria to be upset that Luc hadn’t allowed her to redirect what she had ultimately started in the first place, especially when he was being so sincere about inquiring about it. “Only for a moment,” she conceded, even though this was her thing to begin with. “I am, I mean, I don’t know the make up of Austin as well as others, but I would imagine there’s not a huge understanding of first aid and as I learned first hand sometimes it can be the thing that saves you after a zombie bite.” Not that she expected anyone to sew themselves up, but she couldn’t ignore the fact that general medical knowledge would come in handy in times like this. It had taken Luc a moment to realize Ria had been trying to broach an actual conversation with him during their foreplay but once he’d made the connection he definitely wanted to hear her out. Just because it would take his body a little bit longer to catch up with his brain certainly didn’t mean he wasn't interested in what she had to say. In fact, Luc felt jazzed that Ria thought enough of his opinion to ask him what he thought about her potential medical side endeavor. “So is this a done deal or are you still on the fence about it? Oh, oh! Do we need to make a pro’s and con’s list?” Luc asked excitedly, scrambling up to a sitting position. He might conduct himself in a go-with-the-flow, easygoing sort of way in his personal life but when it came to business, he was highly organized and methodical. There was no way he could handle his two jobs and all the duties they entailed without being thoughtful, responsible and orderly. A bright smile had appeared when Luc had begun to talk about list making and had thrown more questions at her. Ria was a planner, had always been a planner on some level, so the fact that she hadn’t been wrong in engaging Luc in this made her insanely happy. “I don’t know, I think it’s closer to a done deal than fence sitting,” Ria answered honestly as she wiggled around and sat up, her gaze moving over Luc appreciatively even if they had hit the freeze button on their foreplay. “Also I think you just made yourself a million times hotter to me with the whole ‘pros and cons list’,” she added with a giggle. Ria liked seeing this side of Luc, it was interesting because she admittedly never would have pegged him for the list making type. Oh, she knew he could be methodical, he had proven that in many ways, but this, this was different. A good different. But different. “Oh, is that a fact?” Luc chuckled. Somehow, he wasn’t all that surprised that Ria’s turn-on’s included some “type A” organizational skills. Luc knew he wasn’t always so methodical and focused but, in this case, he willing to let some of his more polished, professional attributes bleed over to his personal life. “It is,” Ria answered with a laugh. She felt more confident in her decision to broach this subject with him and get his opinion, even if her stupid brain had chosen a unique time in which to do so. “Do you think it’s something Austin needs?” She asked as she waited for Luc to decide if a pros and cons list was something they were going to endeavour with or not. “Well,” Luc said, scooting across the bed to stand. He was a confidant person by nature and felt absolutely no qualms in strolling across the room in the buff to retrieve a spiral bound notebook and a pen from his desk in the corner. He sat on the edge of the bed, flipped the booklet open and balanced it on his knee. He drew two even columns across the page and scribbled across the top of each “Pro’s” and then “Con’s. He sat, poised, looking very much like a scandalous take of the attentive secretary trope. For her part Ria shifted on the bed, settling behind where Luc sat on the edge and propped her chin on his shoulder as she peered over it to view the notebook which at that moment merely held the words “Pro’s” and “Con’s”. Never once did she give any thought to their lack of clothing as they discussed her future as a first aid teacher, though she imagined to anyone else this might have been one hell of a sight. “People will always benefit from knowing basic first aid skills,” Luc said, marking the point down in the plus column. As head of security at the LBJ and a bodyguard by day, he knew all too well how much basic medical knowledge could help in everyday life. “On the extreme end of things, it could it save a life in a scary situation. On the other side of the scale, it saves people from coming into the ER for basic bumps and scrapes that can be treated at home. Helps the hospital’s bottom line which, I mean, is a negotiable pro but in the end, it frees up your time to concentrate on more serious cases that come into your ER.” Luc bulleted each point, creating a neat outline. He tapped the top of the pen against his straight white teeth as he thought. “It saved mine,” Ria said in agreement to his point about first aid doing that on an extreme end. Unconsciously she reached down and ran her fingers over the scar on her leg, she didn’t care to think about what might have happened if she and the soldier she had been with hadn’t known basic first aid -- or more advance medical procedures -- when she had been bitten the first time. “And it would eliminate some of the smaller things, which would make my ER run more efficiently.” Ria imagined they would still get the random person coming in who thought a scrape was life threatening, but that had happened long before the outbreak happened -- it was just a part of life in emergency medicine. Luc caught the motion of Ria stroking a shiny scar on her leg out of the corner of his eye. He’d noticed the mark before (there wasn’t a part of Ria’s body he wasn’tfamiliar with at this point) but the absent touch at the mention of first aid saving lives spoke volumes. He opened his mouth to ask about it but changed his mind. If today was any indication, they’d have more opportunities to discuss things other than sex and going off on that tangent might derail the conversation they were having. Luc wanted to help Ria with her issue and help her make a decision but found he wasn’t all that opposed to delving into what made Ria the woman that lay, capable and sexy and resplendent, before him. “Con’s could be any damn thing.” His face scrunched up in thought. “Cost of the class out might come out of your pocket and, depending on how many people take it, it doesn’t make up the difference. Dumb asses not paying attention to what you say and end up hurting people they’re trying to help. Less personal time for you which, incidentally, turns out to be a con for me as well.” Luc shrugged. He was trying to be through but it sounded nitpicky to his ears. Ria turned her head and pressed a quick kiss to Luc’s jaw. “You can strike out that last one, I promise this won’t eat up any of the personal time I have earmarked for you,” she assured him. They may not be serious, but the time she spent with Luc was just as good for her as it was for him, it kept her from becoming a complete workaholic. “Those are all valid cons though, there are so many ways it could be less helpful than more…” Ria trailed off for a moment as she thought through what it might look like if she were to pay out of pocket to fund the class, or how she would feel if a patient came through the doors of her ER that had been injured because they hadn’t been paying attention in said class. Was she willing to take those risks. “Would you go forward with it with cons like that?” She asked Luc, her gaze expectant as she waited for what she knew would be an honest reply from him. Even if a person’s heart was in the right place was something worthwhile if it could potentially do more harm than good? Ria had after all taken an oath that had the words “do no harm” in it. As it stood she felt like the “Pros” and “Cons” were equally matched and thus she began wracking her brain for more she could add -- after all it wasn’t right of her to leave it entirely up to Luc to list of the good and bad. Luc thought it over. Would he do something like this if he were in Ria’s shoes? He and Ria were exceedingly compatible but when it came down to it they were very different people. They might go about things differently but he was someone that went with his gut and, if he knew Ria like he thought he did, he was fairly certain she was the same way. “Another con would be whether I find people to help with it,” Ria mused. “If the class was more than a handful of people I don’t think one doctor could adequately teach it.” “You can be exceedingly convincing when you want to be,” Luc chuckled, shooting her a knowing look. Ria returned his look with a knowing smile of her own, well aware of how convincing she could be with him. Luc was always game for whatever Ria wanted of him and hardly ever needed to be brought over to her point of view but he knew damn well she could charm the pants off him and anyone she set her mind to convince. “I have no doubt you’d find other doctors that would want to volunteer their time.” Luc considered the list. It was a handy tool if Ria was truly weighing out the consequences of such an undertaking but by her own admission she had already pretty much come to her conclusion and Luc wasn’t about to talk her out of it; her instincts were on point and it was a selfless, humanitarian gesture. She was looking to make their city a better, safer place and that was commendable, no matter how many cons might inevitably occur. “I think that when what you want to do coincides with what’s best for Austin, you need to run with it,” Luc said at last, circling the “pro” header several times over. “And if I can contribute with my security expertise, I am at your disposal, of course.” “I thought you already were at my disposal,” Ria remarked with a smugness that hinted at her knowing that wasn’t what he meant. She appreciated the offer, especially when she knew how busy Luc was with his job and his own personal life outside of the time they spent together. “Which means I was already hoping you would contribute.” She added, her look appreciative as she caught his gaze. “Oh, but of course,” he readily agreed, smirking. “We are totally on the same wavelength, which doesn’t surprise me in the least.” Luc clicked his pen, poised to continue his administrative duties but his attention was distracted by Ria’s appraising look. “You know, I am pretty into being your assistant,” Luc said with a waggle of his eyebrows. “There’s something to be said being in the position to handle your every whim and need. Tell me, is there anything else you need me to dictate, Doctor Otieno?” Luc hit the first syllable of “dictate” with a sultry, suggestive panache. Maybe they’d end up playing doctor after all. “Well,” Ria drug out the word as she said it, her arms snaked around Luc’s waist and her hands gently removed the pen and notepad from his hands. “I do have a lot of whims and needs,” she continued as she set aside the notepad and pen. “None that need to be written down, though,” Ria’s hand settled low on Luc’s stomach, her chin came to rest on his shoulder again. “But I think I could use your help with something,” her words were whispered in his ear. “I have this ache, do you think you could help that?” As she spoke her fingers wrapped around Luc’s hard length, a smile curled up at the gasp of pleasure that the action pulled out of him as she slowly moved her hand along him. A kiss was pressed to the hinge of his jaw as Ria slowly worked over him. While it might not have been the best moment, she could admit she had enjoyed Luc’s help with her decision making -- or more accurately confirming the decision she had already mostly made. But, now that was done and her worries were dispelled Ria had a very specific way she wanted to thank him for his help. “Maybe diagnosis what might fix it?” Ria continued, her voice low and sultry. She might be the doctor, but she was more than happy to let Luc take on that role right now, if he wanted to. “Hmm,” Luc replied, his breath hitching in his throat. “I have a few theories to put to the test before I make a prognosis.” He shifted so he could worship her form as easily and enthusiastically as Ria had begun to do to him. “Might as well do something about these flushed cheeks, elevated heart rate and shallow breathing while I’m at it. Lay back, Ria. You’re in excellent hands.” |
