"In that case, maybe I'll find a new watch. And some bedsheets," he added as an afterthought as they started up towards the entrance Vic was pointing at. Being in a desert wasteland meant dust got everywhere, especially when their opportunities to do laundry were few and primative compared to washing machines. As they got closer, Josh saw that the doors to this entranced had been forced open, probably some time ago.
That wasn't unusual, though. Some of the stains on the ground looked a little weird, but they'd seen weirder. "I...am not seeing the jewelry display cases," Josh said after a moment of observing the chaotic remains of the department store. Clothes were strewn all around the floor, register drawers visible from beyond the service desks, shelves were dismantled and partially collapsed...like there'd been some kind of desperate struggle. But it all looked like it had been that way for a while, looking at how the dust settled.
"We could check back there?" Josh suggested, pointing in the direction of the arrow that read "jewelry." It was worth a shot, following the sign, so he started for it, not noticing the scuff marks in the dust the farther back they went into the store.
