Who: Unknown arsonists
Where: The Dog Park in the Greenbelt District
When: Backdated to December 9, 2019
What: A spark.
Like all good things do, it all begins with a spark. They run backwards, away from the fire that’s taking root and feeding on the air around it and towards the open Dog Park gates. It’s impossible to miss the spiked skull on the gate, and they point it out to each other as they pass; the sight of it fuels their resolve, as does the sight of the fire catching and growing behind them. It’s taken a long while to get to this point, to a place in which they’re able to finally take action like they’ve always wanted to. This is their moment, though, the beginning of everything. At this hour, it doesn’t take long before they’re out of sight. They check to make sure they weren’t followed and spare a moment to pray that they weren’t seen, but it only takes a few minutes before the rush of getting away with it is too much to bear. Maybe setting a fire isn’t the most subtle way to protest, but it feels like the right thing to do in response to the sheer audacity of the Dog Park. How dare they stay put after all that they’ve done? This is just the first step, but they’re sure that by the time they’re done, the Hellhounds will know that their crimes won’t be going unpunished. |
