Beau and Pikachu 4:45 p.m.
Beau had been slowly getting the hang of things at The Bar the longer than night went on. In addition to checking ID's and making rounds on the different floors to make sure no one was getting rowdy, Beau was also making the occasional drink or two to accommodate the massive crowd that had piled in for the Halloween festivities. Taking advantage of the quick lull in drink orders, Beau sneaked away for a few minutes to call home and check in. The kids were carving pumpkins (Lu the designated pumpkin guts scooper while the older two carved) and watching an old, much-loved DVD of "Halloweentown". Beau thanked Gabe for staying in for the night before talking to Lu, and then Bree.
"You have to make sure you say hi to Kaisha's daddy and Mia's daddy," Bree insisted bossily. Shades of her mother, Beau mused wistfully to himself. "Kaisha said her daddy will be a motorcycle president? So like, a guy in a suit with a gas can? You know him, though, so you can find him yourself. And Mia said her dad is going to be a baseball player so need go find him and talk to him so then you all can be best friends, like we're best friends. Promise?"
It was easier to promise her he would than to argue. Finding any one person in the sea of costumed party-goers would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack but Beau didn't think there was any harm in agreeing. He hung up, worrying about being away from them for the night but resigned in the fact that he didn't exactly have a choice. He moved back into the crowd, parting them like the Red Sea so he could step back behind the bar to help the waitresses take care of the thirsty masses.
"Can I get a beer," a man asked Beau as he finally situated himself behind the bar. Beau acquiesced without looking at him, popping the top off a frosty bottle with the underside of his wedding ring and setting the drink on the counter. Only then did he look up and see a guy dressed as, coincidentally enough, a baseball player. Beau grinned.
