SADDIE - Sarge and Addie
There really is only one person present at this outrageous insult of a party that Sarge is not entirely mad at, and he keeps coming back to check if Addie is alright. Because she might also be the only person here that is not quite as comfortable as everyone else and that is reassuring somehow. He has had quite a bit of shine and various other things that people keep handing to him - and that he has been drinking without checking until someone actually offered him wine, which did bring the night to a new low. But the urge to run around and tear down every last stupid decoration and add them to the bonfire has faded to a mild irritation and he has talked to a few people without snarling at them, so that is a fairly decent success all things considered.
If Sarge is looking mildly panicked when he appears at Addie's side it's because he just escaped the clutches of Barbara who insisted on talking to him for a solid ten minutes before he managed to bolt. "I think you gotta show me your cockroach shots everyone's talkin' bout," he drawls, throwing the occasional glance over his shoulder.
There was a time when he would have lifted her up on his shoulders and carried her through the crowd, and for a very brief moment he is tempted to do just that just for old time's sake. But then he remembers that she isn't a kid anymore and snorts at himself and his ridiculous ideas he is having. Maybe he will start telling everyone stories from the good old days next, like some old guy sitting at the bar and annoying everyone around him with his incessant babbling.
