Sonny is frowning down the table towards the Dog King, a knot between his brows. There is something about this plan that the Dog King is leaving out, Sonny is sure of it. Rodeo has always been deeply, unwaveringly distrustful of the police. The cops declared war on them long ago, and their crew have been battling for their lives and liberty ever since. To Sonny, this place was built on that conflict-- and if someone were to ask him to prove it, he'd simply point to the skull of the cop that Rodeo dragged out to the Greenbelt and shot, which sits impaled over the gate to the Dog Park with a rubber pig nose strapped to it. If Rodeo honestly believes that this cop is different, that he won't be looking for retribution for the killings of his brothers or for the glory of taking down the Dog King, then he's either fully deluded or there are details he's not mentioning.
"What's the gain here?" Sonny asks them. "The Chief works for the Capitol, you think the Mayor is really gonna let him stop chasing us? It doesn't matter who the head piglet is. The mission ain't gonna change. It's not about who the biggest threat to Austin is and it never was. It's about the Mayor seeing us as a threat to him. That's all he cares about. If this Chief takes our side, he ain't gonna last long. If you go into this and it doesn't end bad, you'll probably just be betting your life on a losing horse anyway. It can't be worth the risk."
