Who: Vic Scherbatsky, Marina Scherbatskaya, and rogue Hellhounds
Where: The Scherbatsky house in the Greenbelt
When: Backdated to the evening of 7/10, 11:15PM, before these texts
What: Vic and Marina try really hard not to murder.
It was a lucky thing that Vic had gotten a case of the midnight munchies that evening. If he hadn't been downstairs in the kitchen, working on a makeshift sandwich before bed, he wouldn't have heard the sounds of engines pulling up in front of the house, or whispers that only grew louder after he stopped what he was doing inside, trying to be as silent as possible while he tried to figure out who was outside. It wasn't unusual for Hellhounds to come by, but the timing of it was pretty damned suspicious. He reached for his phone, sending a quick text to Marina -- already upstairs and in bed, probably -- before he moved to the side door, picking up a handgun on his way. One sidestep to look out a window gave him the perfect vantage point to see three men, Hellhound patches clear on their backs despite the dark night sky, moving in up the driveway. Vic threw open the door and slammed it shut after him as he moved outside, gun up and at the ready now that he was face to face with a few of the men who'd deserted their camp. "The fuck you think you're doing over here?" he called out. Vic was all too aware that he was outnumbered and without any kind of bulletproof protection. He hadn't exactly thought he'd need it in his own house. Moments later, Marina was downstairs, gun in one hand as her other hand held the phone up to her ear. Vic had told her to call the police and that was all fine and good except she was on hold. Who the fuck else was calling in tonight? And they wondered why they preferred to handle shit like this themselves... “That you Squeaker? Gonna fucking hide behind that RV like the rat-faced coward you are?” Marina yelled across the yard when finally a voice on the other end of the phone started speaking to her again. “Yes, I have an emergency, that’s why I fucking called you. Some of those jackass rogue Hellhounds are trespassing on our property.” Vic turned his head briefly to confirm her position, scowling at her words. "God damned government always taking their sweet ass time," he muttered just as noise up ahead drew his attention back up to the men. They'd scattered at the first sound of her coming down the stairs, but during his distraction they'd moved forward up the driveway. "Get the fuck away from that," he yelled, moving forward towards the RV he and Marina had shared at the Dog Park. Vic could barely make out the outline of the men he'd used to call his brothers -- they were all armed too, fuck. Squeaker was the weak one, though; it'd been how he got his name. Vic went for him first, his anger rising as he saw him attempt to sidestep closer towards the Airstream. "Don't you fuckin' dare, motherfucker," he yelled, gun aimed on his torso. If needed, Vic wouldn't give a damn about shooting him. Despite being on hold, at least it didn’t take long after Marina gave their address that they heard sirens wailing in the distance. Help was on the way and they just had to manage not to shoot the fuckers before the cops actually got there. --- Watching the Hounds who had tried to fuck their shit up get put into cuffs was an oddly satisfying feeling. Though they’d been people Vic and Marina once called family, they’d crossed a line and deserved whatever they got now. After questioning by the police was finished, to which Marina was happy to note that the police officers involved handled it all very well, she took Vic’s hand and led him back towards the house. “Can you fucking believe that, dorogoy?” "No. No I can't." Vic's tension was obvious in the tightness of his voice and how he held her hand, but he allowed her to guide him back inside and into the kitchen without much of a fight. He didn't even know what he felt just then -- there'd been more anger at first, but now he just felt tired. How much shit were they gonna have to deal with before it was too much? The feeling of betrayal was way too fucking familiar now. And he hadn't even started to think about how clearly personal this was, going after him and the things his family viewed as the most precious. "Our own fucking house, Marina. Wish I could've killed the cocksuckers and hung 'em out to dry." Moving in close, Marina rested her forehead on Vic’s chest and wrapped her arms around his waist before letting out a sigh. “I know, me too. But at least now they get to rot behind bars while we’re out here. They fucking deserve it.” How dare they betray them like this? How dare they stoop so low as to go after the airstream that they knew would hold such sentimental value? "As long as no one busts a wall open again," Vic muttered. He moved his arms around her shoulders anyway, though, and let out a big sigh as he rested his chin on the top of her head. "They were probably thinking we were gonna be out at the bonfire or some shit." “Goddamn assholes,” she grumbled after a brief pause. Though Marina had never met Zhenya, she understood how important her belongings and memories were to Vic. Seeing someone she loved hurt hurt Marina as well. So, yeah, her blood was boiling a bit. Another sigh from Vic as he tried to calm himself down, but it just wasn't working. It was hard to get his mind off of the bullshit they'd just worked through. "You got that right." Marina lingered in Vic’s embrace for a few moments longer before pulling back and grabbing him by the hand. “Come on, dorogoy. Let’s go upstairs and let Sasha and Max know what happened.” |
