Bea & Ryan (and maybe Violet eventually? IDK!): 2:00PM
Bea shrugged, smiling a bit as if to confirm his assumption. “I mean, yeah, I guess. Back when I lived at Fox Grove--which was the high school I went to and when the world went to shit a bunch of us couldn’t find our parents or maybe didn’t want to live with adults anymore? I don’t really know… so it was basically a school full of teenagers--I used to go to this nearby building and climb the emergency stairs on the side of the building and just go up there to watch the city. It was scarier back then because the Hellhounds were really bad. If they saw other people out in the city they would stop them and steal all their supplies and sometimes beat them up if they resisted. But anyway. I guess I’ve seen the city change a lot.”
Taking another fry from Ryan’s basket, she gave him another smile, though the expression on his face was best described as a melding of horror and confusion. “What was it like in Chicago after everything happened?”
"I… It was pretty far removed from that." Ryan didn't even know where to begin with everything Bea had just said. He was well aware of the Hellhounds' previous behavior, but he'd never heard about the high school. As curious as he was, though, he didn't want to press or dig into what could possibly be fresh wounds, still -- though from the way Bea had described it, it didn't sound as though she was too bothered by it all.
"I guess it's good that by the time we moved into their neighborhood, they'd stopped doing that." Ryan had some of his food as well, chewing thoughtfully, then swallowed it down before finally answering her question. "Over in Chicago, we were in lockdown for a few months. We couldn't leave our houses or anything, and they brought us food and supplies when they could. And then the lockdown was lifted and the streets were safe -- there were still zombies, but it was kind of like this, with the soldiers in the city."
Bea couldn’t help but be jealous that there had been people to take care of them while people here had been fending for themselves, but at least there was help now. It wasn’t like they could change the past. She was about to open her mouth to respond but was cut off by Olivia yelling her name from across the street.
“Oh, sorry, that’s my friend Liv. I better go see what she wants. Make sure she’s not getting too wet and wild, if you know what I mean,” Bea said with a grin. “But it was super awesome meeting you and hopefully I’ll run into you again soon!”
"Uh," Ryan said, screwing his face up at the sudden turn of conversation and abrupt end. No, he didn't think he knew what she meant at all… "Yeah, nice meeting you, too."
