Olivia & TJ: 9:45AM
It was like, the best day ever. Temperatures in Austin were even hotter than the year before, certainly bringing to mind all of those pre-rising concerns about global warming and those rumors about the smores gas burning holes in the ozone... But right now Olivia Jensen couldn't bring herself to care about anything from the fact that the water coming out of the busted hydrant was ice cold.
She had just stepped out of the spray and over to the sidewalk, taking a brief break before she went back for more, when she caught sight of someone she vaguely recognized only a few feet away. Olivia was sure she'd met him before -- one of the Officers, she thought -- and then she realized it was the guy Nick had told her about, Babs' surprise husband who was still alive and totally in town.
Olivia couldn't help but move closer to him, an obviously curious look on her face. "Hi. Are you Teddy?"
Hearing that name caught him off guard, especially since it was being said by someone who wasn't his wife. TJ glanced over, an eyebrow quirking up as he took in the girl standing there. She was short and tiny and vaguely familiar but in that way where he knew he'd seen her before yet had no idea what her name was. But she knew his, and not the one everyone else did.
“Why, am I in trouble?”
She thought the most accurate answer was 'probably,' considering Babs' eternal grouchiness, but that didn't really apply to Olivia. No, she was more interested. In like, every bit of this situation.
"No, not really," she said, stepping even closer. "Hi. I'm Olivia. I think we met once, maybe? But I know your wife. Like really well." Despite the age difference or whatever. "And I didn't know you were here, so like, I thought we should meet again!"
Well it was nice to have someone refer to Babs as his wife rather than ex-wife, and even nicer than someone who knew who he was to her didn't immediately glare. TJ nodded slowly as he considered her, watching her move closer to where he was standing.
“Really well, huh?” he asked, bringing up a hand to rub at the back of his neck. “I didn't know she was here until just a bit ago. Olivia. I'll remember that.”
"Cool! Yes, please remember. 'Cause if you and Babs are going to keep talking, or keep being married or whatever, we were probably going to meet eventually." Olivia had no real way of knowing that, but she hoped it was true. Besides, who else was Babs going to introduce to her husband? She kept pretty much everyone at arms length. At least, that was how it seemed to her.
TJ certainly wanted to keep talking to Babs, and being married to her or whatever, but he also knew it wasn't completely up to him. Small steps, he supposed. They had a lot in the past keeping them from being on even footing with their relationship. “Don't worry, I'll remember. I do better with names after I've actually talked to someone a bit.”
"Okay. Cool. So you're one of the Hellhounds, right? That's probably where we've met. My --" Was she supposed to refer to Savannah as her mom? A look of clear confusion flashed upon her face before she figured she had no better word for her. "Um, my mom -- stepmom -- whatever -- she's the leader of the LBJ district, so you probably know her." Since Teddy wasn't like, being carted off by the soldiers for being there, Olivia had to assume that he wasn't one of the bad ones. "Do you like being a Hellhound?"
He paused at her first question, but then she kept going so that gave him a good chance to assess her. Not everyone got along with the Hellhounds, and he got that. He didn't think she would have been as keen to come over on her own if she had concerns about him in that way, or at least he hoped not. “Yeah, I am,” he said with a nod, filing away her relation to the LBJ. “Do I like it? Yeah, I mean, it would've been a lot of effort to go through for something I didn't like. Plus they're like my family - except those ones that took off and are makin trouble all over.”
