Who: Bishop Coldiron and a reporter Where: The Greenbelt, near the Dog Park. What: Bishop has a nice conversation with a reporter. When: July 6th, 2019 - 3:00PM
One of the guys at the gate had been the one to alert him to the presence of the media at their doorstep. Bishop should have assumed this day was coming, but maybe -- naively -- he had hoped they would steer clear of the Dog Park and Greenbelt simply because of the stories they might have heard.
Alas, no such luck. The woman had come strolling right up to their gate, not even flinching at the appearance of the man who greeted her there.
“Something I can help you with, darlin’?” Bishop drawled, trying his best to be as charming as he could be, while simply wanting her to move on her way. He had bigger issues to deal with than a reporter who thought she might be the first to get the scoop on the Dog Park.
The woman, a young blonde reporter, smiled at him in return. “My names Jessica Holtz, I'm with a news publication out of Denver,” the woman began. “And I was just wondering if I could ask you a couple of questions,” she paused, peering at the patches on his cut. “Bishop?”
He gave a nod to indicate that she was correct in assuming he went by Bishop. “While I’m sure you’re real nice, Ms. Holtz, we ain’t looking to have the media poke around our place,” Bishop responded, not unkindly, just matter of factly. “Some other time we might be more inclined to it, but right now we’re a bit on the busy side.” He continued, trying to be as polite as he possibly could be while making it crystal clear she wasn’t getting inside.
“There isn’t anything I could do that might sway your opinion on this?” She countered, batting her eyelashes at him in a vain attempt to charm her way inside.
“Sorry darlin’, not a single thing.” Bishop replied with a plastered on smile. “Like I said, come back another day and maybe we’ll roll out the red carpet for you.” He added. If anything he needed to run this by his officers before he went letting outsiders into the Dog Park.
The Hellhounds were a mystery to most, Bishop knew this. But that didn’t mean he was going to have their home invaded by the media simply to answer all the questions the general public and the new United States had about them.
“Tell you what, give it a couple of months and maybe I’ll make sure you get to do the exclusive on the Hellhounds and the Dog Park,” Bishop continued, hoping to appease Ms. Holtz enough to get her to move on her way. Whether he followed through with it was another story entirely. They had a little more than the media to deal with currently.
A frown was the response he received initially and then as if she gave it a longer thought, Jessica nodded. “You’re sure you can’t just answer a couple of questions?” Bishop gave her a nod ‘no’ and she tried her best not to ‘humph’ in response. “Alright, but I’m going to hold you to that promise.”
“Wasn’t a promise, darlin’,” Bishop pointed out, pausing a beat before adding. “But that sounds like a deal, darlin’,” Bishop replied, waving a farewell before slipping back behind the gates of the Dog Park and leaving the reporter to plot her next course of action.
