Re: Liv x Babs COMPLETED
"Wow." Olivia's eyes were wide with open admiration. "That's awesome. I mean, not that he cheated on you… The punching part. Which sounds like it'd kinda hurt, but it also sounds like you really showed her what for, you know?" She could understand the urge, too; Olivia was pretty sure she'd punch anyone who lay a hand on Maizie Wolfe. "I'm sorry, though, that really sucks."
“Life happens,” Babs began to say. There was more on Olivia’s mind, but a sharp bark interrupted her thoughts and Olivia looked up just in time to see Kaleo, standing a good couple of feet away from them, barking again. Then again, two more times, before he began to follow the truck that was now turning to leave the LBJ Library's parking lot.
Babs yelled the dog’s name, standing up so quickly her knees hit the top of the table and she hissed in pain. It stopped her for less than a moment, but it was enough- Kaleo broke into a trot. She tried to follow, and felt winded almost at once.
“KALEO!” she yelled, but the massive dog didn't seem to notice at all as Babs began to break into a slow, weak, run.
Olivia bolted up, dropping her plate on the table in her haste to follow. "Don't," she said forcefully, running up to Babs with ease and catching her on the shoulder with the palm of her hand. There wasn't time to explain, though, and she hoped it was obvious why she followed the word up by breaking into a run, following after the dog and the truck. It was all wrong -- her hair was down and she didn't have the right shoes on -- but she could still run. She could still help.
She rounded the corner, heading out onto the familiar streets and past the visual landmarks of her district, the truck and dog up in her sights. Olivia put on a burst of speed, confident she'd be able to catch up, and then --
She skidded to a halt in front of a group of soldiers standing in the middle of the road blocking her way, looking helplessly on as Kaleo and the truck disappeared around another corner.
"I was just -- my friend lost her dog and I was looking for him --"
"Ma'am, it's almost time for curfew," one of the soldiers said, though to her credit she did look genuinely apologetic.
"Yeah. But --"
"Where do you live?"
Olivia crossed her arms, frowning as she spoke: "The LBJ district." She wanted to duck around them, see if she could still find Kaleo somehow, but she knew deep down there wasn't a point. She'd failed at getting the dog back, and now she'd have to go back to Babs empty handed.
