Demi, Isaac & Babies - 10:00PM
Curfew had come and gone and some of the party goers had trickled out, heading back to their shelters or the Dog Park before the patrolmen came out in droves. Not everyone had left though, and of those few that remained were two tiny little human beings that Demi insisted on getting some time with. The little boys were the last remaining ties she had to her best friend, a woman she thought she knew better than most -- but not even she could have predicted Teagan leaving. There was a small pang of sadness that came when she thought about her loss, and about the loss these little boys didn’t even know they had experienced yet.
Though admittedly they weren’t lacking for maternal attention, case it point being that Demi had politely nabbed the boys from Bunny, who if the gossips could be trusted had apparently been doing her fair share of minding the boys and had even moved into Bishop’s trailer. She made a mental note to inquire about that later, maybe ask Cherry what was going on there and if it was Nate related. But right now she was on a mission to find Isaac and maybe use the two smallest members of the Dog Park to show him that not everyone from there was bad.
It wasn’t hard to find him settled at one of the tables near the bar, from the looks of it he was just finishing up a conversation with someone as Demi approached with boys, both of whom lay quietly in the double stroller as she maneuvered through the crowd and stopped just as she reached him. “Hey sweetheart,” ducking down Demi pressed a kiss to Isaac’s cheek before adding. “I brought you some company, though they aren’t very good conversationalist.” With a sweep of her hand she indicated the stroller, circling around to the front of it so that she could gently lift Lincoln out, settling him into the crook of her arm as she turned her attention back on Isaac. “Do you want to hold one?”
When the couple with the twins had first entered the bar, Isaac did his best to reserve his judgment about them having babies at a party in a bar because it wasn’t like they could call the sitter for the night. Plus, as far as parties went, this one had been relatively tame. Dancing to the jukebox might have gotten a little rowdy at times and the chatter might have been a little loud, but he hadn’t had to throw anyone out for breaking anything, so he considered the night a success.
“Yeah, I better hold one of those rugrats,” Isaac said, leaning down and picking the other boy up, taking a moment to adjust him in his arms so that his head was fully supported. Isaac couldn’t imagine that the twins were more than a couple months old. He remembered Rose being this small and how scared shitless he’d been of her getting hurt, but thankfully those first-time-parent nerves had worn away.
“What’s this one’s name?” He asked, looking down at the baby’s chubby little cheeks, adding, “Goddamn, he’s cute.”
