Nathan and Demi - 6:15PM
Nathan had been having an eventful night. A good night. Parties, get togethers, things like that, they were right in his wheelhouse. He liked charming people and laughing, and he needed it after the mess of Savannah’s kidnapping. Even if he knew she was safe, that didn’t change that she was far away from Austin and her family. Or the fact that there was nothing he could do about it. But the crowd of people he didn’t know in the bar was the perfect distraction from his hamster wheel thoughts. It was that more than anything that had caused him to miss a familiar face earlier in the night. He’d known from a couple of people that Demi Rafferty was still kicking around Austin, but it was something that was more in the back of his head than anything he put conscious thought to. But it was hard to ignore when she was standing right in front of him, looking as good as ever.
“Hey darlin’,” Nathan drawled, leaned against the bar just a foot or two from Savannah’s old friend. As an opener ‘hey darlin’ felt innocuous enough not to invoke the kind of wrath he knew Demi was capable of. She was a formidable woman, and he’d make a guess that fact might’ve only ratcheted up with the dissolution of polite society.
